Lorenzo, Rossi, Dovizioso head for Monza Rally
The entry list for the Monza Rally Show reveals that MotoGP stars Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso will all be in four-wheel action this weekend.
While seven time MotoGP champion Rossi is a regular at the show, well known rally enthusiast and winner of the event in both 2006 and 2007, the attendance of Yamaha team-mate and newly crowned double champion Lorenzo comes as something of a surprise.
The Spaniard, like Dovizioso, will drive a Citroen DS3 WRC, while Rossi will be at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta WRC.
Other two-wheel stars include Loris Capirossi, Alex de Angelis, Claudio Corti and Simone Corsi.
The Monza Rally is held over nine asphalt stages within the grounds of the legendary Italian circuit, with a special Master Show knock-out event on the final afternoon. The 2012 rally will be held from Friday to Sunday.
Rossi finished second behind WRC legend Sebastien Loeb in last year's event (pictured). Loeb is not present this weekend, when the likes of five time Monza winner Rinaldo Capello and rally ace Piero Longhi are expected to lead the professional four-wheel challenge.
Lorenzo will take on the likes of F1 stars Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel in another one-off end of season four-wheel event, the Race of Champions, in Thailand on December 14-16.
