Everyone likes seeing racing motorcycles get sideways and, although sophisticated electronics and strict fuel limits do their best to stop such behaviour in MotoGP, it can still happen.
See below for a selection of the best powerslides of 2012 caught by trackside photographers - our personal favourite, of Casey Stoner sliding his Repsol Honda across the kerb during October's Malaysian Grand Prix weekend at Sepang, is shown on the left.
Overall, newly retired Stoner provided the most sideways action this year, which was the first of the new 1000cc era.
