More galling for the resurgent Italian, who has shone in every round with the Benetton Honda, his accident followed the appearance of the chequered flag, when his already slowing bike seized, pitching him to the tarmac. A broken wrist is likely to keep Giansanti out of action until Donington Park at the earliest, but the complexity of the injury - which includes four breaks - may delay his return even longer.

Locatelli set the pace in opening qualifying for the Catalunya GP yesterday and, with heavy rain forecast for the area today [Saturday], looks likely to seal his second top spot in a row.
