Rossi: Mexico not a good idea

Valentino Rossi has expressed dismay at the news MotoGP is provisionally scheduled to visit Mexico in 2019, stating the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez F1 circuit is a 'very bad track' and too dangerous for motorcycle racing.

On Sunday Crash.net learned the venue in Mexico City will be on next year’s provisional calendar, bringing the total of races across the year to 20.

Rossi was opposed to this development firstly because he feels the number of races is now too high. “It means we don’t have a life,” he quipped.

The 39-year old also expressed concerns over the track layout, which will need serious changes to bring it up to FIM approved standards ahead of the proposed race date next April.

It “is not a good idea,” Rossi concluded.

“I’m quite desperate because, first of all, the calendar becomes 20 races,” said Rossi soon after finishing the Czech Grand Prix in fourth. “It means we don’t have a life!

“Apart from this first problem, it’s a very bad track. I don’t like. It’s dangerous also. They have to modify some part of the track but it’s very difficult to modify like this, it’s not easy.

"For me a race next year is not a good idea, for sure.”
