Iannone comfortably ahead in warm-up
Andrea Iannone confirmed his status as the pre-race favourite for the MotoGP outing at Phillip Island by comfortably topping morning warm-up, with Yamaha duo Maverick Viñales and Johann Zarco second and third.
The leading Suzuki man took his GSX-RR to a quickest time of 1m 29.254s, a lap that was 0.329s faster than Viñales. Iannone’s speed was such, only five riders could get within one second of his best lap time.

Viñales appears to be in good shape, with Zarco was a further 0.359s back of his personal best. Andrea Dovizioso posted the fourth fastest time with recently crowned world champion Marc Marquez fifth.
Alex Rins, who spent most of his time on the tail of Marquez during the 20 minutes, was sixth, ahead of Pol Espargaro (seventh), Danilo Petrucci (eighth), Jack Miller (ninth) and Bradley Smith (tenth).
There will be concern for Valentino Rossi, who ended the session down in 17th.
