Miller: Superbike ride 'just training'

Jack Miller made headlines last week when he turned up at the Circuit de Catalunya to ride a Ducati V4 Superbike.

The appearance was reported by the official World Superbike website with the question: 'The charismatic Australian may be looking for a factory Ducati, but where?'

So could the Australian have been showing interest in a possible switch to WorldSBK, where former MotoGP rider Alvaro Bautista is currently dominating on the race version of the V4? The answer, it seems, is less exciting: "It was just for training.

"There was a lot of stuff in the media that it was like a World Superbike or something. The bike still has a horn on it, completely standard," added Miller, speaking at Mugello on Thursday.

"It's the same as [Rossi] does at Misano. Just go and do some laps, you know. The opportunity arose that the track was open, I could ride with the Moto2 and Moto3 guys, so why not?"

Pramac Ducati, which will again compete in a special back-and-yellow Lamborghini livery at Mugello this weekend, told Crash.net that both Miller and team-mate Francesco Bagnaia were given a V4 by Ducati for practice and training purposes.

Miller, on the podium in Austin and a race leader last time at Le Mans, has his sights set on securing a factory Ducati MotoGP ride for 2020.
