Crash.net MotoGP podcast with Keith Huewen: Rossi retires, drama in Styria
The 15th of Crash.net's new MotoGP podcasts, featuring Keith Huewen, is now ready to download.
The latest episode sees former grand prix rider, British champion and BT Sport commentator Huewen looks back on a weekend of dramatic on and off-track action in Austria, starting with Valentino Rossi's big announcement that he will retire at the end of this season.
Two days later, Raul Fernandez was finally confirmed as moving to MotoGP next season with Tech3 KTM, but with the news controversially broken while current riders Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona were still on track.
Rain on Sunday morning then saw tricky drying conditions for the Moto3 and Moto2 races, before a fiery accident for wild-card Dani Pedrosa and Lorenzo Savadori meant the MotoGP race was stopped on the third lap.
The restart saw rookie Jorge Martin fend off the challenge of Joan Mir, whose Suzuki was finally fitted with a rear ride-height system this weekend, for a brilliant debut victory, while Fabio Quartararo extended his title lead in third.
Pedrosa recovered from the first race scare to take a strong tenth place, Cal Crutchlow was 17th on his return to the paddock and Aleix Espargaro was an unhappy man after twice being bumped by Marc Marquez into turn 1.
As usual, Huewen is joined by podcast host Harry Benjamin and Crash.net's MotoGP editor Peter McLaren, with all three giving their predictions for this weekend's return race in Spielberg.
