Marc's team-mate and younger brother Alex is based in the Repsol Honda pits for the first time and was top rookie on Monday, with Lecuona escaping injury in a fast accident.
Having split from Karel Abraham over the weekend, Avintia is yet to confirm the arrival of Johann Zarco and is instead giving MotoE rider Eric Granado his MotoGP debut on a GP18.
Miguel Oliveira and Takaaki Nakagami are absent, as they continue to recover from shoulder surgery, but Danilo Petrucci is back in action after shoulder tendonitis at Valencia.
Testing began at 10am, with Marc Marquez beating his Monday time on his very first run. However the forecast rain arrived shortly after midday, meaning some riders have finished testing for the year while others are heading out for wet laps.
Meanwhile, it sounds like Marquez's right shoulder will need further investigation and perhaps even surgery (Marquez underwent a major operation on his left shoulder exactly a year ago):
Great scoop by @tammygorali. She spoke to Marc Marquez. He shared that he will be in hospital in Barcelona to examine the shoulder he dislocated yesterday in the crash. It was a repeat injury, he dislocated it in Sepang, this made it worse. He won in Valencia with a bad shoulder.
