Espargaro and home hero Oliveira form a KTM one-two during final practice for the Inaugural Portimao MotoGP round.
Espargaro slid off at Turn 5 early in the session, while Zarco suffered an engine problem at the end, stopping with smoke spewing from his machine.
Nakagami fell at Turn 4 for the second time in as many days and looked to be in pain as he returned to the LCR pits.
