Suzuki's new world champion Mir, who began the race in 20th after electronic problems, clipped the back of Zarco early in the race and also struck Bagnaia in the arm, forcing the Italian to retire in pain. Mir later retired, apparently with a repeat of the electronic woes.
Iker Lecuona was forced to miss his third event after a positive Covid test and is being replaced at Tech3 by KTM test rider Kallio.
Bradl was replacing injured reigning world champion Marc Marquez, who won't return until 2021.
