Waite seeks re-staging over Burza ban.

Berwick Bandits have lodged an immediate appeal to the Speedway Control Bureau following their home meeting against Isle of Wight on Saturday.

Polish rider Stanislaw Burza received a 1 meeting ban from the BSPA for missing Bandit's Premier Trophy meeting at Glasgow on Sunday 21 May, but it was not the ban that upset the Berwick camp, it was the follow up decision from BSPA Headquarters.

Bandits Promoter Peter Waite explains," We were not particularly happy with the ban, but accepted it as a punishment for the rider. However, despite the SCB rules clearly stating that when there is a ban, for an assessed average rider such as Burza, the facility allowed is Rider Replacement.

This allows for bans by FIM, ACU and SCB. It seems that the BSPA took it on themselves to inflict the ban and then tell us quite categorically, that the only facility allowed to us on the night was the use of a 'C'Grade Premier League/Conference League rider to ride at number 1 in place of Burza!"

He continued, "We had to use local rider Gary Flint (who scored 1 point when last of three in Heat 1) who tried his best, but we have now lodged an immediate appeal to the SCB, with the appropriate fee and asked for a re-staging of the meeting allowing us Rider Replacement to cover Burza's one meeting ban. As in the case of other recent bans on riders it should not be the club who suffer, only the rider."
