King's Lynn boss slammed for sleaze shots!

King's Lynn Speedway boss Nigel Wagstaff has been force to defend his actions after fans accused him of going too far in his latest pursuit of publicity.

In a bid to gain sponsors 'exposure', the club's riders recently featured alongside glamour model Kelly Bell, in a two page photographic spread in British tabloid the Daily Sport.

Since then, the club's official website has been inundated with comments following the publication, which were taken prior to the Knights' home match against Wolverhampton.

In response, Nigel Wagstaff has spoken out against those who chose to criticise the feature that gained the club a great deal of national publicity - but for the right reasons?

"I feel that it is required of me to comment on the introduction of Kelly Bell to the club at Kings Lynn," he said, as if announcing a new signing. "Kelly is a young lady who is fast approaching the top of her profession as a model, featuring in many picture shoots and appearing at many live venues.

"She has helped promote the Official Speedway GP merchandise catalogue and has, through this introduction been both fascinated and exhilarated by this great sport of ours," Wagstaff claimed. "It was her decision to offer her services, freely, to promote our club within her own environment.

"Now I can certainly confirm that through our picture shoot last Saturday, and the subsequent 'double page spread' in the Daily Sport on the following Monday, we have introduced Speedway to a massive five million breakfast tables nation wide! - No mean feat!

"Now who is to decide whether the readers of certain newspapers will make good speedway supporters or not - certainly not me," added Wagstaff, referring to the papers target audience, "I reiterate again, this club needs finances to continue and if they come from new sponsors, new supporters or both and this has been advertised through a daily newspaper - then Kelly and I have done a good job."
