Former Jordan F1 team manager joins FPR.

Ford Performance Racing has announced that former Jordan Formula One team manager Tim Edwards is to join the Prodrive owned Australian V8 Supercar team as motorsport director.

Edwards has had a long and experience career in motorsport, having moved to England at the age of 21 to join Alan Docking's Formula 3 and Mazdaspeed Sportscar team as a race team mechanic.

In 1989 he joined Richard Lloyd Racing as lead mechanic for their World Sports Prototype team, before getting a job with the Jordan F1 team when it was formed in 1991.

Starting out as a race mechanic, Edwards spent 14 years with the team, holding numerous roles including chief mechanic and technical operations manager before being promoted to team manager in 2001 - a position he held until 2004, when Eddie Jordan made the decision to sell his team to the Midland Group.

Having returned to Australia in December to join the organising committee for the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games as a special advisor for sport, Edwards will now take on his role with FPR at the end of March - with total responsibility for all the team's technical and sporting activities while, including representing FPR with both AVESCO and TEGA.
