Angry Ambrose denied Bathurst win.
Competing in what is possibly his final race at 'The Mountain', Marcos Ambrose saw his chances of victory dashed when he collided with Greg Murphy mid-way through the race forcing him into retirement.
Having started on the front row of the grid, Ambrose and team mate Warren Luff remained competitive until they fell to fifth place courtesy of a penalty for not wearing fire-proof balaclavas. Attempting to fight back, Ambrose closed up courtesy of a safety car period, passing Murphy straight away afterwards.

Attempting to fight back, Ambrose closed up courtesy of a safety car period, passing Murphy straight away afterwards.
However, Murphy fought back and turned Ambrose round at The Cutting, causing a ten car incident that placed the Holden driver, Ambrose and the innocent Jason Bargwanna out of the race.
Ambrose immediately made his feelings felt to Murphy, with the heated exchange caught on TV cameras. Eventually the race stewards chose not penalise Murphy, aggreving Ambrose even further.
"What do I say? - not much I guess," said Ambrose. "We had a pretty quick car all day and really had a chance to win the race. The balaclava deal is frustrating and confusing and really put us behind the eight-ball. A safety car fell for us late in the race and I had the chance to run for at least a podium."
"Murphy made a mistake coming out of turn two I had the momentum on him. He had a chance to avoid the accident and did not. The car is in pretty ordinary shape and I really feel for the boys who have worked so hard this weekend and now have plenty of work to do before Indy in two weeks time."
The result now leaves Ambrose down in second place in the championship behind Russ Ingall, with three races to go. "It was a luxury to have the points break that we did heading into this race and now we trail by a couple points to Russell. I guess we are going to have a cracking run to the title."
