BFGoodrich tyres have confirmed that they have committed themselves to the FIA Junior World Rally Championship for at least the next two years.

Speaking prior to the Swedish Rally, the opening round in the 2006 JWRC, Michelin Group's competition director Frederic Henry-Biabaud added that they consider it important to play a part in the Junior series to help the stars of tomorrow on their way to the highest level in the sport.

"It is important for a brand like BFGoodrich, which stands for passion, the spirit of competition and innovation, to play its part in giving rallying's up-and-coming talents, the future World Champions, a chance to show their ability," he noted. "BFGoodrich is delighted to be working with the stars of tomorrow and will partner the JWRC during both the 2006 and 2007 seasons."

This year's Junior World Rally Championship features nine rounds, and as Sweden has never counted towards the JWRC before, BF Goodrich has had to develop a highly specific tyre suited to the Super 1600 machinery.

"The development of this tyre was undertaken on location in Sweden, at the end of 2005," added BFGoodrich's rallies programme manager, Aime Chatard. "Competitors will have a chance to test it further before the rally begins."
