Melandri: I will definitely be competitive at Misano

Marco Melandri says he is 'pumped up' for the seventh round of the 2014 World Superbike Championship on home soil at Misano following his dominant double success at Sepang.

After a difficult start to the 2014 WSBK season with Aprilia, Melandri found his form in Malaysia with two fine performances that saw him claim victory over team-mate Sylvain Guintoli, giving his flagging title hopes a positive boost.

Though he remains a substantial 54 points adrift of Tom Sykes in the standings, Melandri says his confidence is back and is certain he will up at the front for his home event in Misano.

"I am really happy to go to Misano after the double win in Malaysia and I am very pumped up," said Melandri who will ride a one-off Loris Reggiani-inspired livery this weekend. "I am confident that I have found the way to take best advantage of my Aprilia, so I am expecting a weekend with a lot of adversaries but one where I will definitely be competitive.

"I especially want to do well both because we are playing on our home pitch and in order to do honour to the celebratory livery of my RSV4. I'll be expecting to see a lot of you at Misano!"
