Haslam: Consistency has improved; was a priority for us, more areas to explore
Leon Haslam completes his final pre-season test of 2021 at Aragon ahead of his second year with the WorldSBK HRC team.
Like team-mate Alvaro Bautista, Haslam will be looking to lead the HRC WorldSBK project forward in 2021 by taking the team closer to the top on a more regular basis.
And following the team’s final pre-season test at MotorLand Aragon, a substantial area that could make that happen is 'consistency', which according to Haslam has improved a lot to this point.
It was a slow start to the test initially for Haslam and the team, but come day-two the 2018 BSB champion was in the flow of things and highlighted what’s been positive heading into the season’s double header starting on May 21-23.
Speaking after the two-day test, Haslam added: "Day one was a bit tough as we worked a lot in the garage and didn’t manage to make many laps over the course of the day, while this afternoon we got a lot of laps under our belt, which was great.
"We had a lot to get through, but I think we’ve made very good steps with all the items we had to test here. Our consistency has improved, and that was a priority for us. The lap times were good also considering the high temperatures, so I’m pretty happy with that and, like I say, the consistency has been better.
"We have some more areas to explore, but what we’ve done here has all been very positive. Although we haven’t had as much test time at this track as other teams, I think we’re close.
"Now all we have to do is switch our mindset and get into race mode rather than test mode. I’m looking forward to the first races."
