Toprak Razgatlioglu made a brilliant start from P2 to lead into turn one, while pole sitter Jonathan Rea went back to fourth.

The Superpole race winner managed to get back ahead of Alvaro Bautista on lap one, but found passing Rinaldi slightly more difficult.

But before the race could properly get going, a third red flag of the day came out after a crash involving Lucas Mahais and Tom Sykes.

The original grid was reset for the second race start, but Razgatlioglu once again led into turn one from Rinaldi. Rea then got back past the Ducati rider into turn five.

The leading trio then went three-wide on the start-finish straight but Razgatlioglu managed to retain the lead yet again.

Rinaldi then took the lead at the start of lap four after impressively out-braking Razgatlioglu.

Rinaldi and Razgatlioglu began to gap Rea, who instead came under pressure from Andrea Locatelli.

Rea, who had the softer compound rear tyre fitted, was then passed by Locatelli with nine laps to go.

Redding then got ahead of Rea three corners later before Bautista did the same heading into turn one.

While Rea was dramatically going backwards, Razgatlioglu retook the lead from Rinaldi.

The battle for the win wasn’t over though as Rinaldi regained the lead with five laps to go. The Italian then pulled clear of Razgatlioglu as they went on to finish in that order.

In the battle for third, Redding got ahead of Locatelli with two laps left as did Bautista. The Ducati and Honda riders closed in on Razgatlioglu for second towards the end, but ran out of time to make an overtake.

Rea came home in sixth and has once again lost the championship lead by one point to Razgatlioglu.
