Randy Krummenacher and Sandro Cortese have pulled out half a second on the rest of the World Supersport field in the first free practice session at Assen.
Krummenacher, who crashed while battling for the lead at Aragon last time out, heads the FP1 times with a 1m 38.527s with Aragon race winner Cortese in close company for Kallio Racing Yamaha. The pair are half a second ahead of Jules Cluzel in third for NRT Yamaha.
Local rider Rob Hartog, competing in the European Supersport class, jumped up to an impressive fourth place on his Kawasaki in the first practice session at Assen ahead of championship leader Lucas Mahias for GRT Yamaha.
Niki Tuuli led the CIA Landlords Insurance Honda charge in sixth place in front of Profile Racing Triumph’s Luke Stapleford and MV Agusta’s Raffaelle De Rosa as Kyle Smith (Team Lorini Honda) and Federico Caricasulo (GRT Yamaha) completed the top ten.
The FP1 session was briefly halted by a red flag after Anthony West crashed at Turn 16, with the Australian rider taken to the medical centre at the circuit but as been reported as conscious and responding to medics trackside.
