Sandro Cortese has clinched his third pole position of the year in World Superpole with a dominant display at Brno.
The Kallio Racing Yamaha rider, who had been trading top lap times with NRT Yamaha’s Jules Cluzel during practice, stormed to the front with a 2m 02.670s which none of his rivals could get to within half a second of to hand the German rider his third pole of the year.
Cortese eventually claimed pole by over sixth-tenths of a second from Randy Krummenacher on the Bardahl Evan Bros Yamaha as he edged out Cluzel with the French rider completing the front row.
Despite crashing at Turn 9 on his final qualifying lap, Raffaele De Rosa still put his MV Agusta on the front of the second row ahead of GRT Yamaha pair Lucas Mahias in fifth and Federico Caricasulo in sixth.
Ayrton Badovini heads up row three on the MV Agusta alongside Kawasaki pair Anthony West (EAB Kawasaki) and Sheridan Morais (Puccetti Kawasaki).
Thomas Gradinger converted his impressive free practice pace to 10th place in qualifying for NRT Yamaha as Kyle Smith crashed out at Turn 10 which left him 11th for CIA Landlords Insurance Honda, having switched from Gemar Team Lorini Honda, as Hikari Okubo rounded out row four on the Puccetti Kawaski at Brno.
