Federico Caricasulo has secured his fourth pole position of the season ahead of the World Supersport finale with all three title contenders on the front row.
The Bardahl Evan Bros Yamaha rider produced a late 2m 01.219s to edge out team-mate Randy Krummenacher in the fight for pole position. The Swiss rider holds an eight-point advantage in the riders’ world championship over the Italian heading into the title decider in Qatar.
With Lucas Mahias losing his best lap of the session for exceeding track limits, it puts Jules Cluzel on to the front row in third place for GMT94 Yamaha, with the French rider still in the title equation 22 points off championship leader Krummenacher.
Cluzel’s team-mate Corentin Perolari was also promoted up a spot at Mahias’s expense to take fourth place with the Puccetti Kawasaki rider having to settle for fifth place as his team-mate Hikari Okubo moved up to complete the second row with his final lap.
That saw Ayrton Badovini head up row three for Pedercini Kawasaki in front of Isaac Vinales (Kallio Racing Yamaha) and Kyle Smith on the Pedercini Kawasaki.
Thomas Gradinger has qualified at the front of row four for Kallio Racing Yamaha ahead of Raffele De Rosa, who suffered a late technical issue with his MV Agusta, and Jules Danilo on the CIA Landlord Insurance Honda.
The 2019 World Supersport finale takes place at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar tomorrow at 18:15 local time.
