Thompson forced out of Macau
LADA driver James Thompson is to miss the final rounds of the World Touring Car Championship in Macau following his accident in qualifying.
The Briton crashed out of the first phase of the session after colliding with the BMW of Stefano D'Aste, which had stopped on track earlier on.
Thompson suffered bruised feet in the incident which would have ruled him out of race day, although his LADA Priora was damaged beyond repair.
D'Aste will also miss race day due to the damage his BMW suffered, while Thompson's team-mate Kirill Ladygin is also out of the weekend after crashing his car during Friday practice.
"I want to thank the medical staff, because they were very efficient and professional," Thompson said. "I also wish to thank Stefano D'Aste, who stayed with me all the time. I appreciated it a lot especially because after the crash I momentarily lost my sight. Having Stefano with me when I was transported to the hospital was very reassuring."
