Harper sets blistering pace for Monza pole

JTR's Dan Harper will start the first Monza Porsche Carrera Cup GB race from pole position after storming to the top of the times late on in qualifying.

Harper arrives at the Carrera Cup GB's only overseas round sitting sixth in the championship standings, but set a blistering pace during the 30-minute shootout to beat JTR stablemate Lewis Plato and points leader Dino Zamparelli late in the session.

It was Zamparelli who led the timesheets with just two minutes to go, but the championship leader was unable to match the scorching pace of JTR duo Harper and Plato, who both displaced the Redline Racing GT3 991 Cup car to lockout the front row in first and second.

Zamparelli did manage to improve on his time during his final flying lap but it wasn't enough to beat Harper's 1 minute 50.609s lap around the historic Italian Grand Prix venue.

Team Parker's George Gamble joins Zamparelli on the second row of the grid in fourth.

Unable to generate the same front-running pace, Slidesport Engineering's Tio Ellinas lines up fifth ahead of Tom Wrigley and Will Bratt. Just 0.093s covered Ellinas, Wrigley and Bratt around what is the longest lap on the Carrera Cup GB calendar.

Six of the seven Pro-Am runners ended qualifying line astern from 8th to 13th, with JTR's Jamie Orton coming out on top in that particular battle ahead of Seb Perez and Greg Caton, who both completed the overall top-ten order.

IN2 Racing's Peter Kyle-Henney took the Am class qualifying honours by 0.5s ahead of Peter Mangion.
