Sutton quickest ahead of Jordan in greasy FP1

British Touring Car Championship points leader Ashley Sutton has set the pace during a greasy opening practice session of the weekend at Thruxton.

Not for the first time this season, Sutton's factory backed Subaru Levorg excelled in the in the greasy conditions and ultimately emerged from the opening 40-minute session fastest of all ahead of the BMW's Andrew Jordan.

With the session hit by a lengthy red-flag, caused by Mark Blundell's off at Church corner, the times drastically tumbled as the grip levels improved by the end of FP1.

Sutton eventually pipped Jordan to the top of the timesheets after setting a 1 minute 16.531s lap, just 0.071s quicker than the returning Jordan.

Jordan saw his weekend cut short in dramatic fashion last time out at Donington Park after his BMW 330i M Sport was collected by the Mercedes of Adam Morgan following a multi-car altercation during the first lap of race one.

Reigning champion Colin Turkington followed his West Surrey Racing BMW team mate after setting the third fastest time, ahead of Jake Hill in fourth and Thruxton specialist Adam Morgan, who completed the top-five order in fifth.

Stephen Jelley continues to display promising pace for the Team Parker Racing BMW in sixth, ahead of the seventh and eighth placed AmD Tuning Honda Civic Type Rs of Rory Butcher and Sam Tordoff.

Subaru's Senna Proctor and Power Maxed Racing's Rob Collard completed the remainder of the top-ten in ninth and tenth.
