Wrigley converts pole to maiden Porsche victory

Tom Wrigley has secured his first ever Porsche Carrera Cup GB race victory after leading home a JTR 1-2 result ahead of team mate Lewis Plato at Oulton Park.

Having already stormed to a maiden pole in the series, Wrigley led every corner of the 18 lap encounter after successfully retaining his position at the front during the start of the race.

With the two JTR runners able to scamper away in the distance right from the early stages, it soon became clear that title protagonist Dino Zamparelli was in some degree in trouble as the Redline Racing driver struggled to fend off a four-car freight train led by championship rival Tio Ellinas.

By lap 12, Wrigley and Plato had assembled a 17-second lead back to Zamparelli, who was still valiantly holding position in third. However, after losing third to Ellinas on the same lap, Zamparelli's race finally came to end after his 911 GT3 Cup car lost power on the exit of the Island hairpin before limping home to an early retirement.

It later transpired that Zamparelli's radiator sustained a puncture on the opening lap, which progressively worsened as the race went on.

Zamparelli's demise from the race means that Ellinas now leads the points chase after finishing in third behind the dominant JTR duo of Wrigley and Plato.

Dan Harper maintained JTR's supremacy in fourth, ahead of George Gamble in fifth.

Seb Perez took the Pro-Am category win in sixth, ahead of Dan Vaughn, Rory Collingbourne, Jamie Orton and Justin Sherwood, all lying astern in seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.

Peter Kyle-Henney converted his Am category pole position into an Am category victory after narrowly holding off Peter Mangion and Shamus Jennings.
