What did Hamilton, Sainz and Perez say in the cool-down room?
Ferrari’s Sainz won his first-ever F1 race at his 150th attempt at Silverstone on Sunday, and was joined on the podium by Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Mercedes’ Hamilton.
Hamilton briefly led the British Grand Prix, the first time he has been in front in the 2022 season, and was heavily involved in a thrilling battle for the podium places.
Sainz, meanwhile, held off all comers including Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc.
After Sainz and Perez chatted in Spanish, Hamilton entered the cool-down room…
Hamilton to Sainz: Congratulations, dude.
Sainz to Hamilton: I heard you were on it! So, are you guys officially back?
Hamilton: You guys are so fast down the straights, man.
Perez to Hamilton: You nearly passed me…
Hamilton: Yeah! Oh, man…
Hamilton earlier said on Sky: "I gave it everything. I tried to chase down those Ferraris but they were too quick.
"I was in the battle with Checo but those guys are too quick on the straights.
"I am so grateful for the hard work that they team did, to get an upgrade. We took a step closer.
"We lost time in the pitstop. I was chasing, chasing, chasing.
"We have improvements to make. This is a huge bonus to be on the podium.
"I'm glad everyone is safe from the crash at the beginning."
