Details shared from F1 drivers’ briefing as a Brad Pitt movie update discussed

Problems in Hollywood threatened to slow the progress of the movie which will feature mega-star Pitt in the lead role and Lewis Hamilton behind-the-scenes.

Pitt’s appearance at the F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone where he drove an F2-spec car designed to look like a Formula 1 machine for scenes in the movie was a highlight of the weekend.

Sky’s Kravitz said from the United States Grand Prix in Texas: “Jerry Bruckheimer, with the Lewis Hamilton co-produced movie, is kind of on hiatus while the Actors’ Guild continue their arguments with the big studios.

“But it looks like it is going to resume as soon as that is sorted out.

“Jerry Bruckheimer was here to have some meetings with people.

“I understand that, in the drivers’ briefing, the drivers were shown some of the rushes - they have actually edited together some of the sequences that they’re going to use in the movie.

“It was an opportunity, as I understand it, for Joseph Kosinski who was also here this weekend, the director (Bruckheimer is the producer, Hamilton co-producer), to actually show the drivers and everybody in Formula 1 that this is still a project that is ongoing despite the actors’ strike and now the writers’ strike has been concluded successfully with an agreement on both sides.

“Once the actors are back to work, they can carry on production. But clearly it is going to be offset into next year.

“The grand prix circus cannot wait for such antics and politics going on in Hollywood!”

The movie has no official title yet.

Pitt’s co-star is British actor Damson Idris. Apple TV will broadcast the film whenever it is released.

Pitt and Idris joined the F1 drivers’ briefing at Silverstone, and had a garage set up in the colours of their fictional team (APXGP), for scenes which will be used in the movie.
