Max Verstappen claimed his fifth pole of the season, beating Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in qualifying for the F1 Japanese Grand Prix.
Leclerc was on course to take pole but lost over 0.2s in the final sector.
Verstappen and Sainz failed to improve on their final runs.
Esteban Ocon impressed with fifth on the grid ahead of Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton.
