Australia's leading Formula 3 operation, team BRM, have lured Marcus Koch out of retirement to join the team in an engineering role for 2005.
Koch is the former owner of British-based Mach 1 Racing, a team that competed successfully for many years in British Formula Vauxhall, Formula Ford and Formula Renault competition.
Koch will work with the team's latest signing, 20 year-old Victorian Michael Trimble, and the team's latest car. The team will be using the Dallara F304 Speiss Opel recently purchased from leading British F3 outfit Menu Motorsport, the same chassis that Aussie Will Davison drove during his time on the British F3 circuit in 2004.
Koch will also engineer British F3 driver Barton Mawer, who will jump into Trimble's car for a one off drive at the Australian Grand Prix Formula 3 support races.
"Marcus brings a great deal of top level, International open wheel experience to the team, and we extremely happy to have secured his services and expertise for season 2005," said team-boss Bronte Rundle.
"Its fantastic that someone with as much experience he has will be working with us during the upcoming Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 championship. We know that adding Marcus to the team will only add to our chances of talking back-to-back F3 titles."
For his part, Koch commented that he was keen to get back involved with the sport.
"I'm looking forward to getting back in to top-level motorsport with a highly successful team like Team BRM," said Koch. "The team has very ambitious plans in place for the season ahead, and I can't wait to be a part of it."
