Smith meanwhile has moved into contention for the 2019 Aprilia test and wild-card deal, after Redding's harsh words about his team and machine at the Austrian MotoGP.
KTM is also searching for another test rider but is not keen on offering wild-card rides, prompting Smith to confirm he will not be involved with the factory at all next season. Folger and Dani Pedrosa have also been linked to the second KTM test seat.
