Billy Monger to headline stunt show with Mission Motorsport

Billy Monger will team up with Mission Motorsport to put on a stunt show at the Autosport International show at the NEC in Birmingham.

The 18-year-old became headline news last April when he was involved in a horrific Formula 4 crash at Donington Park in which he lost both lower legs. After the amputations to his legs, Monger has repeated his dream to race again and has been a popular guest in the Formula 1 paddock and BTCC paddock while he received the FIA President’s Award from Jean Todt eight months on from his accident for his courage in recovery.

Monger, who is still hoping to race in Formula 1, has also been nominated for the Laureus Sporting Moment of 2017 for his brave appearance at the British Grand Prix as a guest of Mercedes. The moment has been nominated alongside another F1 highlight when fan Thomas Danel was seen in tears when Kimi Raikkonen was taken out of the Spanish Grand Prix on the opening lap which saw the six-year-old invited into the Ferrari hospitality to meet his hero Raikkonen.

With the use of prosthetics Monger has tested a hand-controlled car with success and has joined Mission Motorsport, a charity run by veterans, serving officers and motorsport professionals, to produce a stunt show which is set to be hosted by Sky F1 commentator David Croft and vlogger Shmee150.

Monger has been training with Mission Motorsport as part of its stunt team driving one of its four Jaguar F-Type cars. The show is aimed to demonstrate the work completed by the charity in providing recovery and rehabilitation to those affected by military operations with opportunities through motorsport.

A host of further entertainment will also be on show including a NASCAR demonstration, a World Rallycross drifting sequence and also Ginetta car races.
