Carl is the brother of current Wildcat Danny and was the reserve in the Wessex Rosebowl scoring four points from four rides. Jason Prynne who was due to ride for Plymouth before they were knocked back for this season took the chase to the last heat finishing runner up to Chris Courage.
The signing of 29 year old Jason Prynne strengthens the Wildcats squad as each of the Conference teams are permitted to sign up to twelve riders to use throughout the season. "This is an opportunity that the club can't afford to miss with a rider of Jason's calibre becoming available," commented Wildcats chairman Brian White.
Jason started his shale career with the then named St. Austell 'Gulls' in the Conference League winning the League and KO Cup before moving to Exeter in the Premier League for a year and then back west again at St. Austell who were now re-named the Trelawny 'Tigers' for half a season in the Premier League. This was followed by a move to London and the Wimbledon 'Dons' in the Conference League.
A bad accident whilst riding for Wimbledon leaves Jason with fourteen screws and 2 plates in his hand after two fingers were severed and his hand was crushed. It had been ten months since Jason had ridden a bike before a last minute call up to cover for injured Wildcat Mark Thompson in the Wessex Rosebowl came through. Jason obliged finishing runner up to Chris Courage, "I surprised myself in that meeting after being out for so long, I really enjoyed riding again and can't wait to grasp this opportunity with Weymouth." Jason continued "At the end of last season I thought I would be riding for Trelawny in the Premier League, with their troubles resulting with them sitting the year out along came Plymouth in the Conference League. Plymouth also had troubles with planning permission so I was basically left with nowhere to ride at the start of this season. After the Wessex Rosebowl came the phone call from Brian White to see if I would like to come on board, I can't wait for Friday afternoon to get back in the swing of things."
Current Wildcat Danny Warwick will now have his brother in the pits with confirmation that Carl has signed on into the squad this week. "Carl was very impressive during the Wessex Rosebowl with some great overtaking and is a welcome addition to the club and another rider with bags of potential," added White.
Commenting on his two latest signings, "Conference League clubs are permitted to sign up to twelve riders and until today I only had seven on my books, these two additional lads will make a much stronger squad for Weymouth Speedway. Unfortunately I can't use all of the riders in each meeting so riders have to step aside." Continuing White added "Carl Warwick will come in at reserve for us on Friday, Nathan Irwin will be rested after going through a rough start to his season."
"Paul Candy steps aside for Jason Prynne to make his debut. I dearly want Paul to remain with the Wildcats, when I signed him during the winter I thought he was going to be our trump card at reserve but with Peter Morrish the Conference League co-ordinator stating that Paul has an average above five when it is really below five I had no choice but to run with Paul in the main body of the team at in the difficult number two position. Paul has been struggling, I was gutted at having to ask him to step down from the main team, he is a very mature lad and appreciates the need to strengthen the side, he want's to ride for us and I want him to ride for Weymouth Speedway, no doubt will do in the future, he is an important part of my plans and always has been. He wants to ride and not just sit and wait for a phone call, if a team spot elsewhere comes along then Paul will be able to go with my blessing."
This Friday sees an earlier than normal start time of 5.00pm for the KO Cup visit of Stoke with kids admitted free if accompanied by a paying adult.
