They are led by former GP star and big fish in the Premier league pond, Carl Stonehewer. Recently returned to form is Kauko Nieminen who will also prove to be a stiff challenge to Newcastle at his home track.
Then home to Brough Park on Sunday for a visit from the 2003 Premier League Champions, Edinburgh Monarchs. This will again be a very tough task as the Monarchs have a host of Brough Park experts primarily in the form of ex-Newcastle skipper Peter Carr. Frede Schott freshly back from surgery has also hit top form and was in double figures from his last meeting at the Tyneside circuit.
This will be Kristian Lund's first Brough Park outing since his departure last year and he will be keen to impress. George English said: "These are two very hard matches for the Diamonds and all we can do is hope that the well-overdue improvements can at last happen. If not, then we will have to again take a serious look at the situation which we cannot allow to continue. The riding order will be changed for this weekends matches and we are aware of everyone's concern."
