Wolff in for Simota at Reading.
Reading Racers have now been given official permission by the BSPA to include Richard Wolff in their 2005 team-line-up. Racers ran into problems with their original Czech Republic signing Zdenek Simota, when it was revealed that he won't start with an assessed 5.00-point average as first thought, but 8.00 points.
The 8.00 average is unworkable for the Racers, which unfortunately means that Simota will not start the season for the Racers in 2005 after all. However the Reading management have moved quickly and have swooped to sign
Wolff in his place, who will start the season on a 5.07 average.
Wolff last rode in Britain for Trelawny Tigers in 2003. The Czech Republic rider first rode for the Tigers in 2001 where he raced to a 5.00 average from 7 meetings and then upped to an excellent 6.95 in his first full season
in 2002. The 28-year-old missed the start of the 2003 season with Trelawny, but was eventually drafted in as a replacement for the injured Emiliano Sanchez in August, where the former Czech Republic Under-21 Champion rode
the final twelve Premier League meetings for the Tigers.
Racers promoter Pat Bliss was pleased that the Wolff situation had been resolved, but obviously disappointed to have to drop Simota, she said, "The signing of Richard has been a very long drawn out procedure, but we are thrilled that at last we have got our man."
"Unfortunately at present we are unable to fit Zdenek Simota in the team, as he has been assessed at eight-points. But we will be keeping our options open and should a team change or re-assessment become necessary during the
season we will do their best to bring him over."
