32 of the Premier Leagues finest had gathered in Norfolk to contest this tough event, which is based on the cut throat format used in the Grand Prix's up until last year. After the initial round a rider must finish in 1st or 2nd place, to advance to the next round, those failing are eliminated from the competition.

In his first ride Zorro accounted for three of the top premier league riders, when he beat Craig Boyce, former Rebel - Mark Lemon, and Andre Compton, in a fast time. The second round saw the start of the elimination races, where one mistake would spell the end of a rider's participation.

In Heat 14, Magnus had a battle on his hands as he raced neck, and neck, for the first lap, with Kings Lynn's Oliver Allen, and Ulrich Ostergaard from the Isle of Wight Islanders. Allen's challenge ended as he went wide on the 2nd bend of the 2nd lap, leaving Ostergaard as the only danger to Zorro.

In Round 3 he came up against track expert, and another former Rebel, Adam Allott. Allott had a point to prove, after recently being dropped from the Kings Lynn side. He flew from the gates to inflict the only defeat of the evening on Magnus, who went safely through to the semi-finals in second place.

In the semi-final Zorro came up against Chris Neath and Stuart Robson, of the Rye House Rockets, and Sheffield's Andre Compton, who he had already defeated earlier in the evening. Drawn on Gate 4, he tracked the fast starting Neath, before passing him on the first lap, on his way to victory, and a place in the final, along with Glasgow's Shane Parker, and local man Tomas Topinka, who both qualified from the first semi-final.

The line up in the Final was Parker (Gate 1), Neath (Gate 2), Zetterstrom (Gate 3), Topinka (Gate 4).

Neath again got a flying start, with Zorro taking up the chase, before taking the lead at the third bend, first time round, and going on to complete a magnificent evenings work to take the trophy back to the Oak Tree Arena. Zetterstrom is assured of a rousing welcome home on Friday, when the Rebels take on, appropriately enough, the Newport Wasps, who's very own Craig Watson was last years Champions Chase winner.

Zorro produced a fantastic performance against a top quality field, and will be returning with the first silverware of the season for a Rebels rider, and a superb prize to add to his fourth place in the Swedish National Championship. A timely boost for the team, after a difficult first half of the season.
