Top class field for Bordernapolis.

Berwick Speedway has finalised its line-up for the 2006 Bordernapolis Championships and, following talks with several well known names, has decided to introduce a young rider who can mix it with the best on the Border track and is a renowned Berwick crowd pleaser.

The one man who fills all the criteria is 2005 star Bandit, coming back for one thrilling night only, Carl Wilkinson, who now races for Newport Wasps.

Wilkinson will relish the opportunity to get to grips with such a quality field on a track he knows inside out, and the fans will be the winners on Saturday when he hit's the shale again.

Bandit's bright new Swede, Andreas Bergstrom has had to withdraw from the event due to the knee injury he picked up last Saturday night in the Premier League match against Sheffield, but in his place comes another Shielfield Sizzler in the form of the Isle Of Wight's Pole, Krzysztof Stojanowski.

The field is led by one of Australia's best, having a long and successful Grand Prix history following his excellent 3rd place in the 1990 World Championship Final. He's been part of Australia's World Cup winning team in 2001 and 2002 and the formerly known World Team Cup Championship winners in 1999, and he is Todd Wiltshire.

Making a return to Sheilfield Park for one night only is the current holder of the Bordernapolis, and a vibrant Czech who has raced for Berwick for some 5 seasons before departing the scene early this year, but he above all else knows the fastest lines on the big Border track, and he is Adrian Rymel.

Currently scoring big tallies for Elite League Reading Bulldogs is another Australian, by the name of Travis McGowan, although the three above cannot rest on their self confidence with the remaining field consisting of perhaps the rider who races Shielfield Park better than anyone, from the Newcastle Diamonds, former Bandit, Josef "Pepe" Franc, and his Newcastle team mate also from the Czech Republic, who has raced some excellent laps round the Border track in the past, George Stancl.

Back to the Elite League once again and Belle Vue in particular, a certain rising star of UK speedway who is tipped by many to be the next British World title holder, and he is the explosive and thrilling Simon Stead, who has had some amazing meetings for the likes of Workington at Berwick in the past, and well worth the admission price on his own back.

Also included in this field bristling with Shielfield park experts, is Glasgow's top Aussie star, Shane - firestarter - Parker, Edinburgh's rapid starting Dutchman, Theo Pijper, Isle of Wight's thrilling Aussie duo and again proven Berwick experts in the shape of twice Australian U-21 champion, Chris Holder and a most definite superstar of the future, Jason Doyle.

"This could well be the very best Bordernapolis field Berwick has ever put together," stated Bandit's boss, Peter Waite, " Without a doubt it's potentially the most exciting and thrilling of all, and with them all being superb Shielfield Park performers, we in for a festival of Speedway excellence on Saturday night. This will be a night to remember and a night not to miss under any circumstance.
