Ritchie Hawkins is still suffering from the effects of a crash in Australia during the winter, in which he damaged his shoulder, and his place will be taken by short term signing Adam Allott.
As Promoter Peter Toogood explained: "Ritchie needs a rest, it is as simple as that. He is still suffering, and by riding he is not making it any better so, hopefully Ritchie will come back in three or four weeks time refreshed and ready to kick start his season. Adam is a perfect signing for us, having been a member of a successful Sheffield side for the past two seasons."
Swindon's other injury victim is Oliver Allen, who was taken off during last week's British Under-21 Final at Sheffield, receiving a probable broken bone in his hand.
He said "I've done some damage to my hand and we'll have to see how it feels over the next couple of days, but is doesn't look good." The 19 year-old misses Thursday's clash with Hull, but is hopeful of making the starting line-up for the Sheffield meeting on Sunday.
Chris Harris comes in as Allen's replacement on Thursday and faces a Hull side spearheaded by Robbie Kessler, Garry Stead and Blunsdon specialist Paul Thorp. However, a rider to watch out for could well be Lee Smethills, scoring freely this year from the reserve berth and a potential match winner for the visitors.
On Sunday, it is the turn of Sheffield to do battle for Yorkshire's honour, and with a heat leader trio of Sean Wilson, Scott Smith and Simon Stead, the Tigers seem sure to give the Impact Robins' title credentials an early test. Allen is hoping to be able to reclaim his place in the home line-up, while Lee Complin and Andrew Moore form the visitors' second string. It is at reserve, however, where Sheffield look perhaps most vulnerable, and Swindon will be hoping that new signing Allott will be able to score a few points against James Birkinshaw and Ricky Ashworth.
