Picture: Bostrom hit by Yates' Suzuki.

Race one at Laguna Seca lasted only as far as turn one when Aaron Yates lost control of his Suzuki under braking, and took out Frankie Chili, Eric Bostrom, Troy Corser and Neil Hodgson in the process.

Kawasaki star Bostrom, currently battling for the AMA SBK title, was the most 'unlucky' - innocent victim Eric being the only rider who couldn't take the restart after dislocating his shoulder and suffering neck and back injuries as he was hit by the Yoshimura tuned GSX-R 1000.

Chili would go on to win the restart, after running back to the pits for his spare PSG-1 Ducati, while Yates would crash again in race two... this time on his own.
