Steve Martin's Brno race day began badly when his Foggy Petronas FP1 burst into flames on the grid (pictured), forcing the Australian to start from the back of the field on his spare bike.

But, after a good start, his gear lever then broke and the spare bike started to seize-up, forcing him to retire after just three laps.

Steve Martin's Brno race day began badly when his Foggy Petronas FP1 burst into flames on the grid (pictured), forcing the Australian to start from the back of the field on his spare bike.

But, after a good start, his gear lever then broke and the spare bike started to seize-up, forcing him to retire after just three laps.

"With so many riders failing to finish the first race it was a good opportunity to score good points, so I am very disappointed," said Steve, who finished 19th in race two: "In the second race I was losing the front everywhere from the start of the race, so I just had to settle down and ride around to finish the race."
