World Supersport Mandalika, Indonesia - Free Practice Results (2)
Randy Krummenacher got the better of fellow countryman Dominique Aegerter to finish day-one of World Supersport Indonesia fastest.
After a second-straight delay (this time due to ‘track conditions’), WorldSSP FP2 finally got underway with Manuel Gonzalez once again at the front.
However, the Spaniard was soon challenged by Swiss riders Randy Krummenacher and 2021 world champion Dominique Aegerter.
After Krummenacher momentarily went quickest, Gonzalez and Aegerter then bettered the 2019 series winner with the latter setting a 1:38.015s.
Both riders exchanged top spot on their next laps around, but it was Aegerter who remained quickest, while significant improvements from Philipp Oettl (11th in FP1) saw the German go fifth overall.
With just under half the session remaining, Gonzalez set an impressive low 1m 37s time to go three tenths quicker than Aegerter and subsequently lead a Yamaha 1-2-3.
Gonzalez, who was consistently quicker in sector one compared to his rivals, managed to further improve, albeit by just four hundredths of a second as the session approached the 15 minute to go mark.
While the top three all closed to within half a tenth, Glenn Van Straalen became the first crasher of the afternoon session - turn two.
While Gonzalez looked to be heading towards his second first place of the day, a stunning final sector from Aegerter resulted in him gaining over three tenths to set the first sub 1m 37s lap of the day.
However, Aegerter’s 1:36.908s was then eclipsed by Krummenacher who has been back to his best since joining the MS Yamaha outfit.

Free Practice One
The start of FP1 saw an early issue for MV Agusta rider NIki Tuuli as a technical problem stopped the Finn from getting to the end of pit lane.
Former WorldSSP300 champion Jeffery Buis, who will be on the WorldSSP grid full-time next season, was in action for his third intermediate class weekend of the year.
2021 World Champion Dominique Aegerter was the early pace setter before soon-to-be Moto2 rider Manuel Gonzalez took over at the top.
Gonzalez was then bettered by fellow Yamaha rider and 2019 series champion Randy Krummenacher.
The Swiss rider improved further on his next two laps to lead by an impressive margin of six tenths from fellow countryman Aegerter. Federico Caricasulo became the first rider to suffer a crash at the new Mandalika circuit after a nasty highside at turn four.
Krummenacher remained fastest until Gonzalez, who came close to taking over top spot with several earlier efforts, finally did so with a time of 1:39.726s.
However, Krummenacher responded immediately to go nearly four tenths quicker than the Spaniard.
Gonzalez got within half a tenth of Krummenacher at the final minute remaining mark, before going half a second quicker on his very next lap.
Aegerter then went second late on, while Kawasaki riders Raffaele De Rosa and Can Oncu rounded out the top five.
Philipp Oettl is competing in his final race weekend ahead of moving to WorldSBK with GoEleven Ducati, while Luca Bernardi who remains side-lined by injury also makes the step-up to Barni Racing Ducati in 2022.
