Euphony Racers bosses have drafted in Jamie Westacott for the remainder of the season, after Steve Braidford stepped down from the Reading team. Braidford has been forced to stand down due to personal and bike problems.
Westacott has been waiting in the wings since celebrating his sixteenth birthday earlier in the season, and has turned out for the Racers during this season when opportunities have arisen due to injuries to Reading's two
reserves of Braidford and Chris Mills. However, it is now felt that it is time for the young Welshman to make his mark in the team full-time, where he will continue to get help and guidance from his 'mentor' Phil Morris.
Reading Promoter Pat Bliss was sympathetic towards Braidford's situation, she said," Steve has been having problems with his equipment and also an accident involving one of the family. In an effort to give him time to get back on an even keel, Jamie will be riding until the end of the season and we are sure he will benefit from the
experience and do a good job for us."
Westacott will start riding for the Racers as from Wednesday night's home Premier League match against Exeter Falcons at Smallmead.
