Lee Richardson and Rune Holta, which then put him into an eliminator in heat 12.

Heat 12 saw Max make a good start to lead all the way, but with Zagar lying third behind Ryan Sullivan the Slovenian pushed his way through to second by the end of the first lap. Sullivan then got back in front of the Euphony
Racer going into lap three, and just when he looked to be making an early exit from the meeting Zagar made a great move up the inside of the last bend of the final lap to take the Australian on the line.

This secured the vital second place and ensured his progression through to the main part of the meeting.

Zagar came out in the first race after the interval in heat 13 with Tomasz Gollob making a great start ahead of Zagar, Rune Holta and Scott Nicholls. However the newly-crowned European Champion was in no mood to settle for
second place and produced a great pass of Gollob to lead by the end of the first lap.

Holta eventually got past the Pole for second place, with
Nicholls bringing up the rear. The win put Zagar into heat 19, which left him just one race away from the semi-finals.

Unfortunately the Slovenian didn't make the best of starts off gate one, and trailed home last behind Leigh Adams, Jonsson and reigning World Champion Nicki Pedersen, putting him into an eliminator in heat 22.

However, this was as far as the Reading rider went, as although Zagar beat Lee Richardson for third place, he came home behind Bjarne Pedersen and championship leader Jason Crump, thus just missing out on a semi-final spot
but did manage to pick up 8 Grand Prix points.
